Lean In | Jane Harvey

Each month, we take time to get to know some of our church members just a little bit better. We hope this short interview allows you to lean-in and helps us all know one another better and grow together as a body of believers.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I’m Jane Harvey and am from Guntersville, AL. I come from a pretty big and close family and am unashamedly obsessed with my first precious nephew, Huck Harvey. I am a teacher of the little children. I graduated from The University of Alabama in 2012 and returned to Tuscaloosa in 2016 to teach at Matthews Elementary School, where I mentored while I was a UA student. I am also the cheer coach for Collins-Riverside Middle School. In my free time you might find me dancing or you might find me napping— it really depends on the day!

Can you share one way that God has been faithful to you recently or something he is teaching you?

Throughout this pandemic and leading up to the beginning of the new school year, God has been teaching me to lean on Him and rest in his timing. I’ve been learning to let go of being in control of every day that comes along and to use the gifts He has equipped me with to serve my students the best that I can. He has also shown me— in big ways— how He is using my community to make me feel taken care of.

How can we be praying for you as you?

As the semester continues, I would appreciate prayers for the uncertainty that is to come. Also, that God would continue to equip me with the ability to meet my students where they are, whether it be in the classroom or online.
