Lean In | Kathryn Evans

Each month, we take time to get to know some of our church members just a little bit better. We hope this short interview allows you to lean-in and helps us all know one another better and grow together as a body of believers.

Tell us a little bit about you and your family.

James and I have been married for 16 years. We grew up in Birmingham attending school and church together from a young age. Our first date was Junior Prom, and the rest was history. We are parents to two precious boys, Spencer (age 9) and Parker (age 7). We relocated to Tuscaloosa in January 2019 and began attending Trinity shortly afterwards.

Can you share one way that God has been faithful to you recently or something he is teaching you?

God has been teaching me that he can use me right where I am. Serving him doesn't need to be big or visible from a worldly sense to matter. He has been challenging me to ask him daily how to serve him with more intention in small ways.

How can we be praying for you?

Our family has started the domestic adoption process. We have been praying for years as a couple and with our children how to be faithful on his call to adopt. We ask for prayer over the details of the adoption and that God would enable the process to go smoothly according to His will. Please also join us in praying for the expectant mothers and families we will meet during this time.

What makes a person a good friend? What characterizes your best friends?

A good friend is trustworthy, loyal and loves my children as their own.

What are some small things that make your day better?

Sunshine, a good night's sleep & family meal!

What’s the best gift anyone has every given you?

When I was 19 year old, my Great-Grandfather gave me his WWI Navy uniform. It is my most cherished gift because I know how much it meant to him and (to be honest) because he gave it to a girl. For a Mississippi man born in 1900, he always celebrated my gender and pushed my ambition. His dreams for me were limitless, and I will forever cherish his impact on my life.

What do you like most about your family?

We are a team who loves each other fiercely.

What is one thing on your "bucket-list"?

To own a mobile vintage shop—think food truck for vintage and antique home goods.

Name three things you are loving.

I am loving the fall weather, teachers and vintage jewelry.
